Nokia Lumia 800 review-8/10
The nokia lumia 800 is the first windows phone handset to be released from the finish manufacturer, but it’s certainly not the only with the lumia 900 on the eve of its release. This Smartphone represents a change in the finish company as it is there first real attempt at a Smartphone as the symbian handsets before fell well below par. The company has been experiencing huge losses; will this be the handset to get them back on track?
Design and Hardware
To sum it up shortly the nokia lumia 800 is the best Smartphone nokia has produced yet. It features the same design as the dead on arrival N9, a unibody polycarbonate shell with rounded edges, at 12mm thick it is not the thinnest Smartphone on the market, but it certainly is comfortable to hold. The device has a3.7inch clear black amoled display with a resolution of 480x800. Although text can appear grainy colours are vivid and bright. The lumia 800 has an 8 megapixel camera that uses carl zeiss optics, photos have little noise and have accurate colour reproduction. |
Software
The device comes running windows phone mango which is its biggest plus point and failure. The windows live tiles and metro ui are a welcome change from the ios and android platforms. The software is functional and nice to look at but there is currently a major flaw with the windows phone operating system, the lack of apps. The windows marketplace has far fewer apps than the app store or play market, but the gap is closing all the time so in time the app factor will soon be obsolete. |
Conclusion
Overall the lumia 800 is a great phone for a first time Smartphone user. The windows phone 7 software is easy and intuitive to use making it quick to get the hang of. If you can handle the slight app deficiency then this is the phone for you. Most of the major apps are there so you will hardly be missing out on classics like angrybirds. If your not an appaholic then the lumia 800 is a Smartphone that will be perfect for you.
